Access Statement For Ardensawah Farm



We aim to cater for the needs of all visitors in our farmhouse, three bedrooms for bed and breakfast.  The following statement is a summary of our provision.  If you have any specific questions please feel free to call us and we will try to help.



• The number 1A bus  is the Penzance – Lands End circular.This stops at Polgigga (between Sennen and Porthcurno), which is ten minutes walk from the farm.  Regular buses run on week-days.  More limited on week-ends and evenings.

• Nearest train station is Penzance.  Collection from the station can be arranged with our local taxi firm Prowse Cars 01736 871520 or Car Hire by Tucker Car Hire 01736  362980

• Transport to our local Pub can be arranged

• The village of Porthcurno is one  mile away.  5 minutes by car or 20 minutes to walk. Facilities include a small shop, post office, church, pub and of course the famous  Minack Theatre. There are two further pubs and two other villages with more facilities and  ATM machines about 10minutes away by car.

• The nearest town is Penzance, which is 9 miles away (20mins drive) with good selection of shops, restaurants and entertainment.

Arrival and Car Parking Facilities

• The farm is well signposted and accessed from the coast road via a concrete lane that runs along the right side of the farm buildings.

• There is ample parking immediately outside the house .  This area is graveled and tarcmac. There is no street lighting and it can be very dark at night. There is good outside lighting illuminating the entrance and the path to the front door which is beside the garage door.

• There is a shallow step up into the front door .


Main Entrance and Reception

• The main entrance is the front door by the garage.  There is one step up to the door.

• Assistance with luggage is always offered.

• The guest dining/lounge room is immediately opposite the front door on the ground floor.  A woodburning stove provides heat during the winter months.  Refreshments served on arrival and free tea & coffee is available at any time.  Television, DVD player, selection of dvd’s, games and books.

• Guests shown the dining room area.

• Access to the bedrooms is via a large wide carpeted staircase with 15 steps and a handrail on the left.

• This opens onto a large landing. The family room is accessed from this via the right hand side.

• Access to the house is available to guests 24 hrs a day.

• No piped music is played in any guest areas.

• Pens and paper are supplied.

• Wireless Internet access is available throughout the house. Mobile phones generally have good reception.


Public Areas – General (Internal)

• Lounge / dining room is  on the ground floor.

• No pets allowed inside the house, unless guide dogs.

• Landing light left on at night at the bottom of the stairs.

• Instructions for assistance at night in the room file.

• Telephone available to guests.


 Restaurant / Dining Room 

• The dining room has a large oak table and chairs with no arms that can be moved around.

•  A substantial breakfast menu is available and we cater for special diets on request.



• Laundry service provided at a small cost.

• Drying facilities available for outdoor clothing.



• Our nearest shop is in the village of Sennen or St Buryan (five minutes drive)


Outdoor Facilities

• The garden is available to guests.  Patio table & chairs and sunlounger in the summer months.  The garden is made up of a large lawned area, with shrubs along the fence line. There is a central  flower bed/rockery at the front of the house. We also have sea views from the front of the house.

• We have two pet labradors Jess the golden lab & Ash the black lab who are very friendly and love to be taken for walks.

We are a 550 acre working farm with  a dairy herd, beef cattle, a few pigs, ducks and chickens.  We grow about 220 acres of potatoes for McCoys crisps which are harvested in the summer months. During the winter months we grow cauliflowers forTescos or Lidls. We also do grass silage for cattle – harvested around May time and grow Barley and Maize.  If you would like to be shown around the farm please ask.



• The  bedrooms have locks and keys are supplied along with a front door key.

• Bedrooms are  on the first floor.

• All bedrooms have tv, dvd, radio alarm, refreshment tray. Hairdryers on request,  spare blanket, carpeted floor in the bedroom and tiled floor in the bathrooms.

• Torches supplied in  rooms.

• Sea views from all rooms.


Ensuite / Shower Room

• The ensuite rooms have a 100cm  shower tray, wash basin and  toilet, There is a  towel rail and shelved area for your personal toiletries.

• Bathrooms are supplied with toiletries, towels and bathrobes.

• The family room has a large separate bathroom with 100cm  shower tray, a huge Victorian roll top bath and heated towel rail. Toilet and washbasin.

• Bathrooms are supplied with toiletries, towels and bathrobes.


Attractions ( Displays, Exhibits, Rides etc)

• There are various walks around the farm.  Access available at all times.

• The coastal footpath is straight out from the car park here and Nanjizel beach is approx 20mins walk. The other beaches are only 20 – 30mins walk.

• We have many coves and beaches nearby, within a few minutes drive.

Open air Minack Theatre 5 minutes drive.

Lands End 7 minutes drive


Additional Information

• Fire instructions are in the room files, torches provided.

• No smoking in the house.  Permitted in the garden.

• Dogs welcome but must be happy to sleep in the guests car as we do not have dogs in the house.

• Water bowls provided.

• Most mobile networks available from all public areas.

• Wireless connection available throughout the house.

• Our house is a five bedroom detached farmhouse.

• Fridge and freezer available for food storage, medications etc.
